Chinese Checkers!

Posted by vergelimbo On 9:58 PM 7 comments

I don't know how to interpret this recent "phenomenatrend", but apparently vergelimbo.com has hit the "Big Time"... IN CHINA!
I know this because I use a "sitemeter" for this blog that records all sorts of interesting data on the visitors to this webpage. For example, below is a pie-chart (ummm...Pie) that monitors the origin of visits to this blog. In the past few weeks, 40 percent of my visitors have come from China. [Click yummy-PIE to enlarge]

Until a few months ago, I had as few hits from China as from the entire continent of Africa. Does this recent explosion of Chinese "visitors" suggest that internet access is growing more common and/or less restricted in the PRC? Perhaps...or perhaps my friend Jerry, who is currently teaching in China, has decided to include vergelimbo on his students compulsory reading list. (Jerry?)

Whatever the explanation, one can see how useful, interesting and even entertaining* (see below) using a sitemeter can be. It would seem that World Domination is still a rather long way off [see map] but I am nonetheless feeling optimistic. You see, the most recent version of the "Babel Fish" translator [to right] now translates to Chinese. Multilingual people surely get a laugh by reading the "translations" provided by this language program. Test the translator by clicking on one of the eight language flags.

*Many paths to vergelimbo: This google search is hilarious

Notice the specific search words entered by some wayward green-thumbed visitor into their Google search engine. Somehow, these words directed them to an earlier vergelimbo post on "urban gardening" ...no doubt they were let down by the results.

Did you try to view the blog in Chinese? Try hitting the little Chinese flag [to the right of the article] under Babel Fish Translator.
Let me know how funny the translation is, and thanks for leaving me your comment!

I don't get too many funny google search strings, but I find it extremely weird that nearly every search for a tater tot hotdish recipe originates from either Minnesota or Wisconsin. I mean, how can you live in MN or WI and not already know how to make tater tot hotdish? The most popular search string leading to alphabitch lately though has been "what is the difference between squid and octopus," but "can dogs eat blueberries" is also popular. Unfortunately the former question is not answered in my post on the subject.

I'm disturbed by how many people access my site (n>1) via search strings like "my sister is hot" or "my hot sister." I am certain that my post on that subject disappoints them.

Now I gotta go look at my hitcounter thingy.

Hey Vergelimbo! I just got sent here by the next blog link as well but I'm not in China. Tuscaloosa, Alabama to be exact. Nice post, I have a feeling I will end up reading all of yours and avoiding my own blog, so thanks, I guess! Check out thebrutal.blogspot.com sometime if you get a chance. Later!

It only takes one hot girl to attract a flash flood? Must try it! Should work better than putting token comments on random blogs.
