EGOGOOGLER - Qu'est-ce que c'est?

Oh, c'mon I know you've done it... Everybody does it...It's OK

There's nothing wrong with doing it. But like most self-indulgent private activities, "egogoogling" is best done in moderation.
A few years back an episode of Sex and The City brought to light the practice of googling an individual's name as a means of determining their date-worthiness. It was not long after this that I googled myself. I admit the results were somewhat disappointing.

Are you an egogoogler? Admit your shame below!

Egogoogle ergo sum

i google myself once in a while, i had participated in quite a lot of 10k races, so i could find myself in many pages, that´s pretty egoelevative, haha

heck yes i google myself! apparantly a really untelligent girl with the same name made a blog about a year ago...she's actually quite amusing. but it's not so much fun when my employer googled me and found her blog. whoops.

I've done it to see what other people can find out about me.

False Positives can be especially misleading with name searches on google:

Imagine having the same name as a pornstar, serial killer, neurosurgeon, grifter, pedophile, philanthropist, bad blogger or folk singer... Some may work to your advantage, others not.

i did it once, to see if i had any outstanding warrants... not going back to delaware anytime soon

Not much shows up on my egogoogle. BTW Phil, did you know that you have been knighted? I'll remember to call you Sir next time I see you.

yes, i google my name sometimes. one time i found three poems of mine in an e-zine i had forgotten about eight or nine months before. another time i googled an old art teacher of mine and found a reference to one of my blogs which randomly linked my mention of him to an off-color joke i told in a competely different place. no wonder he hasn't responded to me in over six months.

of course I google myself... I want to see myself on the internet... it's like wow, I'm someone... or at least if some old flame starts getting emotional about me I will see what they see of me... I must tell you I'm pretty happy with my search results, and I really am a nobody.

Only once...seems the other girls around the world that have my same exact name are really making something of themselves! Wonder if I can do some photo-shopping and fool my mom?
