Stephen Colbert uses ninja-style satire and ironic aikido in this Washington Press Gallery "Roast" of the President. It has to be seen to be believed. Actually, I have seen the video several times and I still do not believe he pulled it off so deftly. This is the most cunningly cruel, satirically dark humor I have ever seen. Stephen Colbert has slain more "sacred cows" than Cecil B. DeMille. He pulls no punches, and kicks all other satirists to the curb.
This is the full length unedited version, produced by C-SPAN:

In a word: Truthiness
Colbert is a stone cold killer i'd hate to meet him in an alley without a thesaurus. Can't believe he dissed Dubya "in his face". Colbert is a national hero.
Copyright Law is the New Red Threat. Too many effing lawyers in this country. Can the weather report be copyrighted too? If you tell someone that you heard on the evening news it was going to rain tomorrow, can you get sued?

Grr!
I knew I should have copyrighted all my theories! But then again, lawyers had not been invented then...alas, those were simple times.

V.,
Tremendous post. Very well done. My heart hardened long ago to the unbelievable actions of Neo-Cons...Copyright? They will stop at nothing....as if the American people are blind. Golly, I guess when they try to thwart or stop people from making what they perceive as "negative' statements, they are doing it for the GOOD of the country. By the way, it was awesome to see and hear people actually squirm and chuckle uncomfortably when Colbert spoke!
Keep up the great work!

Absolutely NO REASON that C-SPAN content should be copyrighted whatsoever.
Dear Verge,
I wish to see this clip. I have been a tax-payer for years, and reasonably beneficial to the weal of this great nation (currently under seige). I have grown accustomed to the rights guaranteed by the Bill of Rights.
I have nothing cute to say. I am appalled and disgusted that the computer agreement under which I have access to the internet blocked access to the clip, not because of copywright infringement, but because the clip is "pornographic material."
How terribly, terribly cheap such a gesture is. There is nothing seditious in a joke, much less "pornographic." Pornography refers specifically to sexual material, and Colbert implied nothing of the sort.
I love this country. But it is this touchy insecurity on the part of the present administration which serves to do nothing but undermine everyone's confidence in everything they do and say.
I believe that we as a nation will recover from this miserable ride that we've been on. Shame on the administration for its underhanded disregard for the United States!

I understand that you had hoped to view the Colbert clip on a computer located at a public library or perhaps a Kinkos...
Both locations block ALL videoplayers.
I suppose such locations cannot descriminate between porn videos and all others videos, so the result is no videos are playable.
I love this clip, and posted it on my blog, but now it doesn't seem to be working on mine or yours, and when I go to Vidiac, I can't even find it. I wonder if the censors got to it. What a shame.
