Possible Link Between Rising Rates of Depression and Anxiety and "World Going to Hell In a Hand Basket"!

Posted by vergelimbo On 8:32 PM 5 comments

The Verge Limbo Institute [VLI] has published a highly controversial study that has sparked a polemicized debate in the field of Applied Psychology. The study, which focused on reported cases of depression and anxiety in men and women over a 5 year period, noted a strong positive correlation between these increasing rates and the often mumbled observation by subjects that: "The World is going to Hell in a hand basket".

Critics of the study claim that the subject's observations are "irrelevant and not scientific" and charge that the VLI researchers may have coached some of the subjects in their answers. Citing that one of the questions posed in a questionnaire given to the test subjects asked them to assess their personal outlook on a scale from 1 to 10. "The World is going to Hell in a hand basket", rating a One, and "It's ALL Good" scoring a TEN. The more vocal critics of the study also asserted that the term "hand basket" is too vague and unscientific.

Micky Pils, spokesman for The Pharmafia, was heard to complain, "I mean-what is a hand basket anyways? Is it scientific? I think NOT! Fuh-get abowd it!".

VLI researchers also drew fire for the paradoxical observation that "depression and anxiety rates seem to be rising in tandem with prescription medication sales and profits by The Pharmafia"

Great to see more coverage of the Pharmafia.(remember-I work for them) I notice that the critics of the study did not disagree with the statement that the world is going to hell in a handbasket. Instead they quibbled over the term "handbasket" as being "unscientific".
TOUCHE, Verge.

Can I apply to work at VLI? My job here may be in jeopardy if I keep visiting your site during office/lab hours.
Let me know!

I wonder if the steady rise is coupled with fear of Animal-Human Hybrids.

By the way, its one word: "fuggedabowdit". :)

I must take extreme issue with this research! God's right hand man (well, maybe he was his left-hand man but irregardless,) He has assured me, repeatedly, that the world is going to Hell in a BUCKET!!!

That "handbasket" heresy is sheer blasphemy!

or sumpthin'...

Ok I get it, I am no longer offended by your comments on my blog.
