Introducing "Miss Medication, 2005"!

WOMEN finally achieve "EQUALITY" with MEN! ( in the incidence of lung cancer)

Moreover, a recent study by the NCHS has found that not only have women struggled to reach "lung cancer parity" with their male couterparts, but most impressively, American women are more than 2.5 times as likely to be taking advantage of mood altering medications!

Pillpopping of anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medication is up a staggering 350% in the last twenty years. American men are shamefully underrepresented in this recent pillboom, but the ladies are flexing their "can do" muscles and picking up the slack, which in turn has "stimulated" the US economy. A paltry 4% of men are currently "psychomedicated" , while a robust 10% of woman are busily spearheading this staggering recent growth.

The "Pharmafia" is tickled pink with this vibrant new woman's movement and is currently launching fresh marketing initiatives designed for the Anxiety Lifestyle and Depression Chic.

Look for plucky ad campaigns in Cosmo, Elle and New Woman magazines prescribing fashion appropriate to the new AFFLUENZA.

I want to learn more about the Pharmafia. Do tell!
Scary stuff, verge.
May I call you that?

Yah, I tried to help the Men's Effort but I just couldn't find a damn anti-depressant that did squat to relieve my anxiety/depression.

I found your blog via Neurotopia. The Evil Monkey seems to be on the most promising track.

In the immortal words of the Terminator, I'll be back.

Anxiety, yes, but depression is so 90s it's ridiculous.

I am a doctor practicing without a license, and tell any patient, woman or man, who complains of ADD symptoms to chill out and have a sleeve of xanax on the house.

I know it's you...the hobnobs are on the way...all of a sudden I feel very far away...

I dont believe the statistics you have linked to at the NIH. I think they are much higher, more along the lines of 20% women, 10% men. I believe the stats listed on the link page are for "currntly taking"...I work in the industry-the "Pharmafia" as you rightly call it. If "they" are monitoring my computer I may soon be out of a job(i'm at work now)
Must run
