Deadwood: Where language lives

Scene: Al Swearengen suggests an idea to Sheriff Bullock

"Deadwood"
, the invective-laden HBO frontier-western is not for the squeamish... Profanity [with a capital P] occurs at a rate of roughly 3 obscenities per minute. If you can stomach such an assault of vulgarity you will discover a mother lode of creative writing and idiosyncratic character/plot development. Imagine a perverse hybrid of David Mamet, Shakespeare and Sergio Leone, and you'll have a rough approximation of "Deadwood". The acting is also top rate. As with other HBO shows, it is readily available through www.Netflix.com, and is best viewed in sequence.

Great clip! i have heard of the show,-and all the buzz but not seen it yet. I watched all of Six Feet Under on DVD and think it is a great way to watch these shows.
Deadwod is next on my list

I can't see the video-too bad cuz Deadwood rocks

If the video clip appears to be loading but doesn't start to play you need to download the newest Flash Media Player at: www.macromedia.com.

This show is my favorite, my absolute favorite, for exactly the reasons you cite -- brilliant !@#$% writing, writing that limns and enriches the characterizations and gives the fine actors something meaty to work with.

Yes, tons of profanity, cussing falling like snowdrifts and shot into scenes like lightning. But the whole of the writing is so impeccably amazing...

Good to see some Deadwood supporters. Nobody I know watches the show. Jon Stewart had a funny bit about the show once, anyone see that one?

Oh, I am positively in love with Deadwood, but when it comes down to profanity(which I personally have no problem with), people at the office have already cornered me for being a pottymouth, and this show ain't helping.

Eeek.

Deadwood is one of my f'n favs that's for sure. They don't call him Swear-engen for nothing.
